This appears to be a First World War nursing photo. Carefully posed - notice even the open window.

But wait? Look carefully at the faces... is the patient a male?

Maybe a young nurse wanted a photo taken wearing her uniform and the studio suggested that she posed in an idealised setting with a patient. There being no men around, a young lady with a false moustache took the role of patient...

Then again, the nurse may not be be female.

We will probably never know.
